I just did what you did. Attempted to follow Chuck Black in the same painting. I love his work and agree how soothing his voice is. I have fallen asleep more than watching tutorials of his. I did watch before beginning. Each step more than once. I agree and told someone how he got to a point where I felt he forgot we are trying to learn from him. He’s all over the place as he admits. He uses oils to finish and achieve the look and beauty we want. But he didn’t agree that process. His talent is incredible but I am still a beginner and not given up yet. Yours is lovely and I’m impressed. But your comments comforted me and validated my frustration I’ll finish but it will be my painting for sure. Thanks

FYI, you mixed up the definition of “hue” and “tone” which might confuse artists who are learning color theory

Last February I decided to try painting with acrylics. As a child I drew all of the time. As adult, not so much. Thirty years ago, I dabbled with pen and ink a bit, but that was it. Anyway, I started in February. My first three or four paintings were pretty awful. (A good friend of mine told me that my first few paintings might have had a shot at third place in a middle school art contest!) But I kept plugging away. Another friend sent me a photo of a desert scene and asked if I'd try to paint it. I did. Although it wasn't spectacular, it was better. I gravitated to landscapes and seascapes in an impressionist style. After completing twenty-two paintings my works are starting to look pretty good, and I'm developing my own "look". I watch Art Sherpa videos for tips on painting, that is how I found my way to your channel. I might eventually try making my own videos of my art journey. I'm sixty-four years old, it is never too late to start.

The art sharpa is the best but a close second is Michelle the painter and joni young and color by Felix , UrArtStudio great paintings and brushes , painting with Jane, Lydia Broderick u would love her personality and paintings,lastly Angela Anderson . Seascapes M.Stewart great teacher and he does other stuff but really shows u how to do tropical water !

When you say 'primary yellow', was this a 'cool' or a 'warm' yellow; I find it hard to tell the difference, unless I'm told the shade. It looked like a cool lemon, but I'm not sure... Thanks for the video; I love turquoise.

And im very very grateful because i dont have the money to pay art schools, but luckily there are people like him, Andrew Tischler, MJS and many others who share their knowledge and techniques for free. Have you even looked at THE ART SHERPA!!???

I don’t want to sound mean, I’m sure you’re a wonderful person and artist, but this tutorial was a bit misleading. The turquoise shown to advertise the video was never achieved with the mixing. After mixing the first batch, there was “oops, that’s not the right blue.” Even the second batch was not the color advertised. I hope this is helpful criticism 🙏🏼
